Sylvain Chavanel was expected to be the IAM rider that challenged for the top positions in Paris-Nice but after he had fallen out of contention, the leadership role has been taken by Stefan Denifl. After finishing in seventh in yesterday's hard stage, the Swiss is now hopeful that he can defend his top 10 position in the final stage to Nice.
