In six sayd we will know the winner of the Giro. The time has come for teams and riders who still want to show themselves. It could happen in today’s mountain stage between Pinzolo and Aprica (177 km) with a summit finish.
Lottp-Soudal's Louis Vervaeke escaped the peloton last Thursday and is keen for more.
“I’m not scared. I’m actually looking forward to today’s stage and my first time on the Mortirolo, one of the most legendary climbs in the world.
“I dream of stages like today, but it’s not easy with the pros. The first nine days of the Giro were really hard for me, partly because of a cold. Now I’m not longer ‘à bloc’ all the time, but the pace stays really high. Depending on the race situation I might have another go today.”
