After many turbulent seasons and various doping scandals, there is some good news for the Willier Triestina-Southeast team. Willier Triestina has announced they will continue in 2017 as the team’s main sponsor.
The team’s biggest names (Filippo Pozzato, Jakub Mareczko, Andrea Fedi and Manuel Belletti) are all due to stay and the team is hoping to ride two Grand Tours in 2017 after taking 12 wins so far this year.
The team also hopes to establish itself as Italy’s best ProContinental team and in Mareczko, they have a sprinter who can win them enough races to amass the points needed to win the Coppa Italia.
"Our mission is to continue show off the quality of the Italian cycling around the world, both Italian riders and the Italian cycling industry," Andrea Gastaldello, head of the family that runs Willier Triestina, told Cyclingnews. "We believe that an Italian project like ours can reach important goals, including becoming one of the most-liked brands amongst the tifosi. And cycling fans."
