Even though is was absolutely clear that Sir Bradley Wiggins and Christopher Froome didn’t get along famously after the conflict between Team Sky leader and his so-called loyal lieutenant during Tour the France 2012 edition almost provoked the older Briton to abandon the race, which he has finally won, this year last two le Grande Boucle winners are said to race together on several occasions.
Team Sky general manager David Brailsford was clear about his intentions to form the strongest possible rosters prior to 2014 season’s major events, despite any differences on the personal ground – what certainly referred to the relationship between Wiggins and Froome, as his riders are expected to provide British team with particular results.
Also Wiggins shared some kind words when the 2013 season came to an end, having said that he wouldn’t mind participating in the same events as Froome and even working for him in in the supporting role, if this is what was expected from him in 2014.
Gentlemen finally had an opportunity to discuss their differences during the first Team Sky training camp held in December, and Froome confessed they were “on good terms with each other” ever since.
Now, as it was reposted on la Gazetta dello Sport, Wiggins and Froome are expected to race arm by arm on several occasions in 2014, particularly at the Milan-San Remo, Tirreno-Adriatico and, what seems most exciting, the Tour the France.
This should be considered a huge step forward, as the British duo raced together only in one event – the Tour of Oman, in 2013.
