“I’m not yet at 100 percent, but second place in a World Tour race is a very good result," Lieuwe Westra said after stage one at the Tour Down Under in Adelaide.
Westra created the day’s breakaway with three other riders and remained in front of the race the entire stage, ultimately finishing second in a sprint behind Australian rider Jack Bobridge.
Westra now sits in second position overall on General Classification, with a nine-second advantage over the main peloton ahead of Tuesday’s uphill finish.
