“I’m excited to join the Cannondale Pro Cycling team.  The 2014 season will be an important and challenging year for the team. They need to not only reach the results set last year, but exceed them as well,” said Weber.

As it was announced on Cannondale Pro cycling team official website, leading German sports scientist Sebastian Weber has been chosen as a replacement after the departure of renowned and successful specialist Paolo Slongo, to train and prepare riders for the 2014 season.

We have reported on cyclingquotes.com last month, that Slongo decided to leave Cannondale in order to continue his work with Vincenzo Nibali at Astana, ensuring the Italian will be capable of living up to the great expectations he currently faces.

In order to perfect its training regimen, the team has committed to Weber’s successful approach to the sport of cycling. Weber is also slated to manage Italian trainers Mattia Michelusi and Samuel Marangoni.

At only 36 years old, Weber is one of the best trainers of his generation. His coaching experience in cycling spans a number of teams including T-Mobile (2006 and 2007), HTC Columbia (2008 to 2011) and most recently Katusha (2012 and 2013). As coach, Weber has had more than 120 wins in six years and has worked with top riders such André Greipel, Tony Martin, Tejay Van Garderen, and Joaquim Rodríguez.

“I’m excited to join the Cannondale Pro Cycling team.  The 2014 season will be an important and challenging year for the team. They need to not only reach the results set last year, but exceed them as well,” said Weber.

“I’m eager to contribute and work closely with team coaches and management to provide the best support possible for the riders. I understand that this is an outstanding, tight-knit, and professional group of men with extremely high potential to achieve great success.”

In addition to Weber, Cannnondale Pro Cycling has brought on Mattia Michelusi and Samuel Marangoni to lead the team. Michelusi has worked with the Italian Cycling Federation, focusing on their junior teams, and Continental Team Androni. In 2012, Michelusi was part the 2012 Olympic training team preparing riders, including Elia Viviani, for the London Games.

Samuel Marangoni, brother of Cannondale Pro Cycling rider Alan Marangoni, will be the third trainer of the team. Marangoni has worked with local Italian teams and has experience with the Cycling Studies Centre of the Italian Federation.

Together with the team medical staff led by Dr. Roberto Corsetti and including Dr. Emilio Magni and Dr. Antonio Angelucci, Cannondale Pro Cycling plans to create a strong group able to manage all aspects of the team’s performance.
