Wanty-Groupe Gobert lines up this week in the Skoda-Tour du Luxembourg with Jérôme Baugnies, Simone Antonini, Boris Dron, Gaëtan Bille, Frederik Veuchelen, Marco Marcato, Roy Jans and Danilo Napolitano. Sports director Hilaire Van der Schueren expects a great race from his riders.
"I think we must have ambitions for this race. We have a good team at the start. We focus on stage wins and on the general classification.
The Tour du Luxembourg starts with a explosive prologue of 2.9 km in the capital. There is a short and steep 450 meter climb that includes 354 meter of cobbles with a average gradient of 12%.
"It is a special prologue. It depends on the weather. The descent can be tricky. Gaëtan Bille is a specialist but we'll see if he recovered from his crash in the Grand Prix de La Somme", Hilaire Van der Schueren hopes.
The rest of the race is followed by a mix of sprint and lumpy stages that suit fast punchers.
"I think that the prologue would be very important for the GC. In the other stages it is difficult to take time bonus. I rely on Roy Jans for the first stage. The three other stages should suit Marco Marcato and Jérôme Baugnies", Hilaire Van der Schueren concludes.
