"When Pöstlberger attacked, I tried to follow him several times , but the rivals from the break joined me in every moment. Finally I was able to get a podium place. I think this is nice result."

The Russian rider of Team Katusha Eduard Vorganov took second in the 7th stage of the Tour of Austria (Kitzbühel to Innsbruck, 124,7 km). Vorganov was a member of a big breakaway group which went away in the first kilometers of the race and held its advantage until the finish.

The winner of the stage became Lukas Pöstlberger from Tirol Cycling Team who attacked with 7 km to go, taking a solo victory. Eduard Vorganov tried to counterattack several times to reach the Austrian rider, finishing second, 13 seconds behind the winner. Third place went to Italian rider Moreno Moser from Cannondale – Garmin.

"When I saw the break go away, I attacked and was able to join this group. In the break there was one of the GC contenders, so my goal was to fight in the intermediate sprints to get as many bonus seconds as possible. I did my best in this stage. Honestly, I thought the peloton would catch us, but it did not. When Pöstlberger attacked, I tried to follow him several times , but the rivals from the break joined me in every moment. Finally I was able to get a podium place. I think this is nice result, which gives me some more motivation ahead of my next races," said Eduard Vorganov.

"Despite having only 4 riders in the team, once again we did a very active and result-oriented race. In the beginning of the stage a big group broke away with Eduard Vorganov among them. He did a very strong race, was one of the most aggressive riders in the break, especially in the intermediate sprints. In general, the peloton tried to control the break, but we did not neutralize it before the finish line. Eduard fought in the finish and took second, bringing another podium place to Team Katusha in this Tour of Austria. Tomorrow it will be the last stage, which will be a real challenge for everyone," added team director Gennady Mikhaylov.

In the general classification Victor De La Parte from Team Vorarlberg still leads the race, while Egor Silin is 6th, 3 minutes and 2 seconds behind the leader.

Tour of Austria 2015 will finish tomorrow, on Sunday, with stage 8 – 184,3 km from Innsbruck to Bregenz with 3 climbs.
