Europcar talisman Thomas Voeckler has undergone successful surgery on his broken collarbone. He left the hospital in Nantes a few days ago.
“The operation went well. It took place this morning. His collarbone was broken in several places and they had to put in a plate,” Europcar directeur sportif Andy Flickinger told RTBF on Friday evening.
A car hit him as he made his way to the start of the Tour du Limousin’s opening stage. It marks his second collarbone break this year, after only recently having plates removed from a crash suffered in the Tour Down Under.
He hopes to be back racing before the end of 2014, but admits he may end the year without a victory.
