Kiel Reijnen has announced that he will not participate in the UCI Road World Championships road race in Doha, Qatar.
The US rider, who won a stage in the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah this summer, has explained that his wife is about to give birth to their first baby. He will be replaced by Alexey Vermeulen (LottoNL-Jumbo), who is one of two US riders also competing in the individual time trial.
Robin Carpenter (Holowesko-Citadel), Chad Haga (Giant-Alpecin), Eric Marcotte (Team Jamis), Taylor Phinney (BMC Racing) and Joey Rosskopf (BMC Racing) are the five other riders who will wear the US jersey in the streets of Doha.
