Despite winning a Vuelta stage, Danny Van Poppel has confirmed he will leave Trek Factory Racing after he reportedly lost confidence in the team’s management, although he says he anted to stay and ride with the team and brother Boy, who has signed a one year extension.
“However, he (brother Boy) was offered a new contract and I was not. They want to keep Boy there to lead out the sprints. The team manager (Luca Guerlina) didn’t have much confidence in me any more,” he told the Brabants Dagblad.
“I had to go. None of the rest of the team gets it. I don’t understand it myself.”
Danny has won 6 races in his short career, and the 22 year old has 4 wins this season.
