Mathieu van der Poel crushed the opposition in the final World Cup race of the season. The Dutchman now admits that he will be one of the favourites for the World Championships next weekend.
"It was a difficult race, but to win here in the Grand Prix of my father and in front of my home public is fantastic.
"Suddenly I had a gap of 15 seconds. I did not really attack but the rest did not join me. It was a very long race but I had good legs today.
"Hopefully I have not peaked yet. With these legs I'm surely one of the favorites in Tabor. I won't hide myself. I'm calm enough to deal with the role of favorite. Who will win the Worlds? I have no answer but it is exciting. "
