Greg Van Avermaet (BMC) is the Belgian rider with the biggest chance to win a stage in the Tour de France. "I don't have to work a lot for our leader Tejay van Garderen. I am fully focused on a stage win."
Van Avermaet will start La Grande Boucle with a lot of personal ambitions."Winning a stageis the most important", he told Sporza just after the teams presentation.
"In the first week, there are a lot of opportunities for me and that is why I am here. If I can win a stage, it takes the pressure of our leader Tejay van Garderen and the rest of the squad."
"The stage to Huy is perhaps just a little bit too difficult for me, but the stage to Cambrai with the cobbles must surely be fore me. Two days later is my best chance to grab a stage victory in the stage to Le Havre. Mûr-de-Bretagne is alse something for me. There are opportunities enough."
Does Van Avermaet have to take his leader Tejay van Garderen into account or can fully focus on his own chances?
"I don't really have to look too much at Tejay. Of course I can't work with other GC riders on the cobblestones but I don't really have to stay with him."
