Like last year, Wout Van Aert (Vastgoedservice-Golden Palace) won the Poldercross in Kruibeke. It was his sixth win of the still young season.
"It was at first a bit of wait to see what everyone was doing and therefore the race was opened a bit later," Van Aert told Het Nieuwsblad. "I certainly didn't lose too many forces at the start of the race. Then halfway through the race, the pace got faster and I had the feeling that I was one of the better ones of. With four laps to go got, with Michael Vanthourenhout, a gap on the rest.
"He did his share of the work, so that it soon became clear that the first two places were occupied by us. I accelerated again and then Vanthourenhout cracked. I finished the last lap at my own pace. It is the second time in a row that I win in Kruibeke. Last year it was very nice. Now it might be less unexpected, but it is always nice to make the victory gesture. My tally keeps growing."
