"I want to emphasize that the focus of Wout van Aert is primarily in the field. The ProContinental status of the team provides Van Aert with the opportunity to test his limits on the road, even in the top classics."

Nick Nuyens has finalized his new team Verandas Willems-Crelan, according to Cyclingsite.be. Wout van Aert and Timothy Dupont will be the leaders of the Belgian ProContinental team.

Team Manager Nick Nuyens is delighted with his new team.

"With these two strong partners with a passion for cycling, we can develop this unique project. It is unique because we are the only team in professional cycling that can be active at the highest level throughout the entire year. It is also unique because we'll ride with two different outfits that will change depending on whether the team is active on the road or in the field. First, the cyclo-cross riders have the opportunity to prepare for the next level which will undoubtedly translate into more power during the cyclo-cross season. At the same time, young talents get the opportunity to peacefully develop in a professional environment on the road, paying attention to all aspects of cycling.”

The main goal for Nuyens in establishing this team is to offer world champion Wout van Aert an opportunity to participate in monuments such as the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.

"Wout gets three teammates at his side in the cyclo-cross races, Tim Merlier, Stan Godrie and young Jappe Jaspers. Niels Albert will support our cross rider with all his expertise. I want to emphasize that the focus of Wout van Aert is primarily in the field. The ProContinental status of the team provides Van Aert with the opportunity to test his limits on the road, even in the top classics. A switch to the road is absolutely not an opportunity question," emphasizes Nuyens.

"Our core team for the road consists of twelve riders", the winner of the 2011 Tour of Flanders says. "The tandem of Ivan De Schampelaere and Kristof De Kegel has already proved in recent years what they have to offer. Therefore it is only logical that they can continue their work in this new project. Sprinter Timothy Dupont must ensure the victories and will be assisted by Dries De Bondt, Sander Cordeel, Christophe Prémont, Aidis Kruopis, Stef Van Zummeren, Elias Van Breussegem, Huub Duyn, Gaetan Bille, Otto Vergaerde and neo pro Michael Goolaerts. We are also very proud with the sigining of two-time Tour of Flanders winner Stijn Devolder. The experience of Stijn is invaluable for this young core. At the same time I am convinced that Devolder will again be in the spotlight in the spring. "
