Alejandro Valverde and THE Movistar Team have chosen to do the Vuelta a Andalucia to add a second stage race on their way to the Giro d'Italia.
Valverde himself confirmed yesterday to BiciCiclismo before the start of the Trofeo Palma that he is "almost certain" to be at the Vuelta a Andalucía-Ruta del Sol (February 17-21), a race he won in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Manager Eusebio Unzue had mentioned that possibility, but the team had overbooked the number of rider for the Andalusian race and had to find a solution.
In his schedule, Valverde had only one stage race, Tirreno-Adriatico, and ten one-day races before his debut in the Giro but the Spaniard wants to add more days of racing before attacking the Giro. The blue leader had "good feelings" in Mallorca and was fifth in the Trofeo Serra Tramuntana and eighth in the Trofeo Pollença.
