Immediately after the Movistar Team 2016 launch in Madrid, eleven members from the telephone squad will travel to the Balearic islands for the 25th edition of the Challenge Mallorca, a four-day series of classics - three of them suited for sprinters, one (Saturday 30) on hilly roads of the Serra de Tramuntana - from Thursday to Sunday 31st.
Alejandro Valverde, winner of the 2015 UCI WorldTour ranking and victor last year in Deià with a huge exhibition (120km in the breakaway) twelve months ago, will lead a big group - eight riders will participate in each of the four trophies - directed by Chente García Acosta and José Luis Laguía, which also includes Tour de San Luis overall winner Dayer Quintana plus Andrey Amador, Alex Dowsett, Imanol Erviti, José Herrada, Gorka Izagirre, Javi Moreno, Giovanni Visconti and debutants Jorge Arcas and Antonio Pedrero.
