Bonaventure Uwizeyimana (Rwanda) won yesterdays 5th stage of the Tropicale Amissa Bongo from a two man sprint ahead of Lashiani of Marocco.
The stage was 143km long and went from Lambrene to Kango.
Both men were involved in a ten-man breakaway that was formed after 87km.
The gap slowly grew and by 20km to the finish, the group had a seemingly, unassailable lead of 6'20.
However, by 8k to go, the two men decided it was time to go as they didnt like their odds in a sprint finish and flew the coup.Coming into the final 2km to go, they had a lead of 30 seconds and could afford to sit up and start the cat and mouse game that occurs in almost every sprint froma reduced group nowadays.
In the end, Uwizeyimana had to much for Lashiani in the sprint and took the victory. He even managed to cross the line a full 5 seconds before the Maroccan.
