According to cyclingnews.com, USA Cycling has announced the final list of UCI-licensed professional teams, consisting of 3 World Tour, 2 Pro Continental, 10 Continental and 4 women’s teams to compete in 2014 season.
USA Cycling gained one World Tour team comparing to the passing season, since previously registered in Luxembourg RadioShack-Leopard team returns to United states under the name of Trek Factory Racing, after the Wisconsin-based factory took over their license. Remaining American-based World Tour squads are BMC and Garmin-Sharp.
UnitedHealthcare and Team Novo Nordisk continue to be the only Professional Continental teams from the US, while the demise of the team formerly known as Bissell Pro Cycling and introduction of three new teams resulted in the total of 10 UCI-registered Continental teams.
The men's UCI continental teams for 2014 include:
5-Hour Energy, Airgas Cycling, Astellas Cycling Team, Bissell Cycling, Champion Systems Stan's No Tubes, Hincapie Sportswear Development Team, Jamis Hagens Berman, Jelly Belly presented by Maxxis, Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies and SmartStop p/b Mountain Khakis.
