US-based professional continental outfit UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling is hoping that a change of strategy will lead to success in this year’s Jayco Herald Sun Tour.

The team, which is no stranger to the event having been regular participants in recent seasons, comes to Melbourne with an all-American line-up for the first time, despite having numerous Australians on their roster.

"The UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team is looking forward to an awesome race in and around Melbourne,” explained sports director Hendrik Redant.

“We chose this year to come to Australia with a full American squad, knowing that some Australians on our team are criterium specialists, we adjusted our roster to perform at our best in the oldest race of Australia.”

UnitedHealthcare began their Australian campaign with the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race on Sunday with plenty of promising signs for the five days of cycling to come commencing on Wednesday with the 62nd edition of the Sun Tour. Redant believes his squad has the right balance to have an impact on the race across the five stages.

“In our pallet of riders for the race we ‎have it all,” he said.

John Murphy, reigning US criterium champion spearheads the squad for the flatter stages with two-time national under-23 road champion Tanner Putt. Leadership on the road comes from experienced team members, Chris Jones, Adrian Hegyvary andDanny Summerhill, while Lucas Euser looms as a threat for the peloton on the climbs.

“With this team I am convinced we can compete at a high level,” concluded Redant. “Let the race be on!"

The 2015 Jayco Herald Sun Touris presented by Jayco and the Herald Sun, along with continued support from the Victorian State Government.
