Ty Magner is the last recruit for UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling team for 2016. The US team explained that the roster is full for next year. General manager Mike Tamayo added that Alessandro Ballan and Laurens Ten Dam will not sign with his team.
Interviewed by Cyclingnews, Tamayo told about his recruitement. "There was a discussion with Laurens there but we've got a full roster now. We will be bringing over Ty Magner and we're focusing on bringing up a lot of young US riders. Everyone linked us to Ballan and we spoke to him one time. Wilier asked us to talk to him and we had that chat but we're looking to go more American and younger next year."
Ballan is one of 27 people indicted in Italy as part of the Mantova doping investigation. In 2010 when the enquiry was announced he was subsequently suspended by the BMC cycling team. He was later cleared by BMC and allowed to race again on 28 May 2010. In November 2013 it was reported that CONI were seeking a 2 year ban for violation of article 2.2 of the WADA code. In January 2014, CONI handed Ballan a two-year suspension. His contract with BMC Racing Team was subsequently terminated.
Matthew Busche is one of the big recruit of this transfer market for UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling. "Matthew is a big signing for us. It's always exciting to have the US champion coming to the team and now we'll to try and find a way of keeping it."
