A few months ago, NFTO announced that it would withdraw from cycling at the end of the year but sports director Tom Barras has not given up. Since then, the Brit has been looking for a sponsor to continue the adventure but his company is not successful at the moment.
Nevertheless, Barras had found an agreement with a potential partner but the latter withdrew in early November, justified by the uncertainty that could emanate from Brexit.
Barras has not yet found the sponsors to secure a minimum budget of 300,000 pounds needed to run the team during the 2017 season. Even though we are now in mid December, Barras still wants to continue.
“I am still working with an agent and haven’t give up but I am less and less hopeful each day,” Barras told Cycling Weekly.
“It doesn’t look like it will happen, but if a sponsor steps in, it is still very much doable. I just haven’t been able to raise the £300,000.”
