After the success of Nelson Oliveira in Portugal, LAMPRE-MERIDA celebrated another victory in the TT thanks to Tsgabu Grmay.
The African TT champion won the Ethiopian championships in the discipline.
On a 30km course in Jimma, Grmay obtained the 3rd national title in the TT, giving LAMPRE-MERIDA the 18th seasonal success.
In the Italian road race championships, 219km from Legnano to the summit finish on Superga (two passages), Diego Ulissi demonstrated his fighting skills, finishing 3rd behind Nibali and Reda.
The LAMPRE-MERIDA rider only surrendered to an attack from Nibali 2km from the finish after he had succeded in responding to Nibali's attacks during the first passage of Superga and on the descent.
The performance has top value, considering that Nibali is preparing for the Tour de France where he will tru to defend the yellow jersey he won in the 2014 edition. It was good performance by Valerio Conti too as he was 10th.
"My condition is good and I like this course where I have won Milano-Torino," Ulissi explained. Unfortunately, Nibali is in top form and he's ready to face the Tour de France so he deserved the victory.
"Vincenzo was simply the strongest and after two months I am starting to get tired. He attacked me everywhere, uphill and downhill, and 2 kilometers from the finish I missed my legs.
"Now I'll rest for a month and go directly back to racing at the Tour of Poland and then I will the summer classics. My goal is to do an excellent season finale. I have many goals in mind.
"I have completed a long period of racing with a podium and am satisfied for having tried to do my best to obtain a top result in today's race
