Maxim Iglinskiy shared a fate of his younger brother and became provisionally suspended by the UCI today. A positive test was after his Tour de France participation on August 1, where he rode in a support of eventually victorious Vincenzo Nibali.
Three weeks ago the UCI has suspended Iglinskiy’s younger and less renowned brother Valentin, who apparently followed Maxim’s footsteps in worst possible way. The 33-year old Kazakh was immediately fired by Astana on September 10 after admitting that he had taken EPO.
Known as a strong contender in spring classics, Iglinskiy won the 2012 Liège - Bastogne - Liège and the inaugural edition of the Strade Bianche.
Astana is yet to make an official announcement in Iglinskiy’s case.
