Sergei Tvetcov had red-circled the time trial of the 2015 Tour de San Luis and the talented Romanian delivered his first great performance for his new Androni team. He finished the stage in fourth, just 29 seconds behind Adriano Malori and so again demonstrated the skills that allowed him to finish on the podium in last year's USA Pro Challenge where he beat Rafal Majka into fourth.
"We knew we could not be as competitive at the Tour de San Luis as in previous years," said team manager Gianni Savio, "because this year we could not use our Venezuelean climbers who were brilliant protagonists at the Vuelta al Tachira. We missed the podium with Ţvetcov in his debut with our team."
Despite the great performance, Tvetcov is out of the battle for the top positions in the overall standings.
