Contrary to earlier speculation in the press, Tristan Hoffman will remain on Saxobank.

The Dutchman has been Directeur Sportiff on Riis’ CSC in 2005 and 2006, and on Team High Road from 2007 to 2011. The last two years he has been one of Riis’ most important men, and has helped Saxobank’s riders to many victories.

It was the Saxobank’s budget reduction – caused by Tinkov’s withdrawal – that had seemed to affect a number of the team’s managers (including Dan Frost), but apparently not Tristan Hoffman.

“Perhaps he found some money. I’ve had some good talks with him, and I had the opportunity to return, which pleases and satisfies me,” Hoffman told Danish tabloid BT.

Hoffman told NOS that his salary will be less than that of last season, and explains that his contract will still be “one of mutual respect” and is to his “full satisfaction.”

His interview highlights Riis’ ability to get the most out of a pressed economic situation, and evinces the Saxobank still has the full trust of its staff.
