Trek Factory Racing will give three young riders a taste of life as a professional in the final months of the season. Clément Chevrier, Ryan Eastman and Alex Kirsch have been registered as stagiaires with the UCI and will take the start in the Tour of Utah on Monday.

The 22-year-old French climber of the Bissell Development team posted good results in the Tour de l’Avenir, the Giro della Valle d’Aosta and the U23 World Championships. This year he rode an excellent Tour of California.

“I was surprised to get the phone call from Trek Factory Racing. I don’t see this as a reward for my results, but as an opportunity that I need to grasp with both hands.”

The 22-year-old Californian has been with Axel Merckx’ development program since 2011 and has raced in the last two editions of both the Tour of California and the US Pro Challenge. He has an excellent record as a tough rider willing to sacrifice himself for the team. He finished up Mt. Diablo in his home race in May, despite having broken his collarbone in a crash at the bottom of the climb.

“This is really sweet. It’s what I have been thinking of since joining Axel’s team. I like this way of working. You can present yourself - be a face, rather than a list of results or a name on an email. You get to meet the people on the team and show them what you’re capable of. I like interacting with a group, so I’m really excited for the months to come.”

The 22-year-old Luxembourger is a product of the Leopard Development program and had an excellent 2014 season thus far, the highlight being his third place in the prologue of the Tour of Luxembourg (2.HC).

“I have had a nice string of top ten placings this season and I believe it’s because I have kept growing over the last two years in the U23 circuit, both physically and mentally. I hope to be able to do the work that the team expects me to do. But I am very thankful for this chance and I will do my best.”
