The use of the much discussed painkiller Tramadol will no longer allowed in the peloton. In 2016, the drug will be added to the doping list, the the Movement for a Credible Cycling MPCC reports in a press release.
There has long been riders who want to ban the powerful morphine-like painkiller. The drug can potentially cause problems with concentration and therefore cause crashes in the peloton. The ban came due to 'repeated requests from the MPCC and WADA," the press release reads.
Last year Michael Barry discussed the use of Tramadol during his time at Sky. The British team soon announced that they no longer used the substance. Team doctor Jan Mathieu of Lotto Soudal has also asked for a ban.
