A CCC Sprandi Polkowice squad loaded with climbers will take on another UCI WorldTour stage event, Tour de Suisse. The prestigious race will kick off on Saturday, June 11.
"We have selected some great climbers for Tour de Suisse. Victor de la Parte is our man for GC. He performs well in the mountains, which he has proved at Tour of Croatia, and is a very solid time trialist. In this year’s edition there are two TTs, so that set of skills will be very valuable," Piotr Wadecki, sporting director of CCC Sprandi Polkowice, explains.
"Felix Grossschartner, who also did well in Croatia, should be right there with him on the climbs. We also count on Sylwester Szmyd and Jan Hirt. The latter surprised everyone last year by staying with the strongest on the hardest mountain stage to Solden and finished 7th on that day.
"As always Maciej Paterski will be dangerous for his rivals on those hilly, but not typical mountain stages. Meanwhile Simone Ponzi will try to compete in the fast finales. He’s returning to racing after an injury so he might lack some explosiveness, but we are already thinking about Tour de Pologne and how to polish his form for that race."
Branislau Samoilau and Jarosław Marycz also made the roster and will be crucial domestiques for the team leaders.
