The organiser of the Tour de Suisse, InfrontRingier Sports & Entertainment AG, has issued two wildcards for this year’s Swiss national tour. With the Polish team CCC Sprandi Polkowice and the Belgian Team Wanty – Groupe Gobert, two committed professional continental teams have entered the race.
The professional continental team CCC Sprandi Polkowice, with the Polish shoe manufacturer “CCC” as its main sponsor, has existed since the year 2000. “Sprandi”, a Polish clothing brand, has been a co-sponsor since this year. The Polish cycling team is based in the Lower Silesian town of Polkowice. Possible riders include the Pole Maciej Paterski and the Italian Davide Rebellin (43). The 28 year old Pole won the first stage of the Catalonian tour this spring, was ninth in the Amstel Gold Race and achieved overall victory in the Croatian tour, which celebrated its debut this season in the racing calendar.
Wanty – Groupe Gobert exists since 2002, first at the UCI’s continental level, since 2011 as a professional continental team. In 2014, Wanty - Groupe Gobert added some riders and staff following the break-up of the team Vacansoleil-DCM. The Belgian team includes 15 Belgians, five Italians and one Dutchman. The most significant riders and point scorers are the two Belgians Bjorn Leukemans and Jérôme Baugnies as well as the two Italians Enrico Gasparotto and Marco Marcato. The widely-established Belgian construction company “Wanty” and the wholesale building materials supplier “Groupe Gobert” complement one another perfectly, forming an ideal pair for the title sponsorship.
The race takes place from June 13 to 21.
