After this year's race started with a team time trial, the 2016 Tour de Romandie will again kick off with the traditional prologue. The 70th anniversary edition of the race of the French-speaking part of Switzerland will starton April 26 in La Chaux-de-Found where a 3.95km flat course must be overcome, and will end on May 1 with a stage from Ollon to Geneva.
There's another 15km individual time trial on the 3rd stage in Sion. One day later it is time for the queen stage which will cover five mountains - including three of the 1st category - and will finish in Villars-sur-Ollon. The second stage also includes mountainous terrain on the way to a mountaintop finish in Morgins while stages 1 and 5 are likely to be for the sprinters.
This year's edition of the Tour de Romandie was surprisingly won Russian Illnur Zakarin (Katusha) who beat teammate Simon Spilak and Chris Froome into the minor podium positions. The Swiss jad a very successful race with a total of three stage wins for Michal Albasini (Orica-Green Edge, 2 stages) and Stefan Küng (BMC). Tony Martin (Team Quick Step) won the final time trial in Lausanne for themselves after Team Sky had won the opening team time trial and Thibaut Pinot had clinched victory in the queen stage.

Stage 2, April 28: Moudon - Morgins, 173.9km.
Stage 3, April 29: Sion (Sion), 15.11km, ITT.
Stage 4, April 30: Conthey - Villars-sur-Ollon, 173.2km.
Stage 5, May 1: Ollon - Geneva, 172km
