The career Matteo Tosatto seems to be at a crossroads. The experienced Italian rider is currently without a team and is looking for a suitable employer for 2017.
There is no lack of offers but Tosatto wants to find a suitable team where he can work for his captains in his final years as a cyclist and during his retirement. In an interview with Tribuna Treviso, he reveals that he has turned down some teams because of "the proposed program."
"However I am not obsessed by extending my career,” he explained. “Who would have imagined that I would be riding at 42 years of age, always doing races like Sanremo, Giro and the Tour in the forefront? It is probably over although I have already started to train. I hold the door open but within a week I have to decide.”
However it goes, Tosatto will remain in cycling and devote himself to studies to become a sports director in 2017 to start a new adventure in 2018. He has several proposals, both at youth level and professional level. Apparently, he has an offer from Bjarne Riis whos is expected to launch a WorldTour team in 2018. He has also been contacted by Giro d’Italia organizers RCS Sport.
