Tinkoff-Saxo once again made its way into the top ten in Norway after 177 kilometers of racing at the fourth stage of Tour des Fjords. Chris Anker Sørensen grabbed 6th, as the breakaway made it to the finish line, where Continental rider Søren Kragh Andersen won the stage and took the lead.
Talking about the outcome, Tinkoff-Saxo sports director Nicki Sørensen tells that the squad missed an opportunity to secure a good GC result on the day.
“It was a less good day for us. There was a possibility to make a difference in the general classification but the breakaway made it to the finish line and that was costly for Valgren and Brutt’s position in the GC. So it was kind of a setback”, says Nicki Sørensen.
Stage 4 from Stavanger presented the riders with 177km to Jondal. Nicki Sørensen adds that Chris Anker Sørensen, on a positive note, showed good shape in the breakaway.
“We tried to go for the stage win in the breakaway but in the end we good sixth due to several factors. The good thing is that Chris Anker proved that he is in very good shape, which bodes well for his next races”, adds Nicki Sørensen.
