Speaking on the morning of the opening stage of the Tour of Britain in Glasgow, Bjorn Thurau of Wanty-Groupe Gobert gave his thoughts on the race, as well as his 2016 season as a whole.
“I think it was a good season for me for the moment. Everything is fine. I don’t know yet where my season will take me after the Tour of Britain is finished," Thurau told CyclingQuotes exclusively before stage one of the Tour of Britain began.
He spoke about the strenght his team brings, with local rider Mark McNally, fast finishers in Enrico Gasparotto and Marco Marcato and the talented climber Guillaume Martin. He was very confident his Wanty team could so something in all of the eight days of the race and were not in Britain just to make up numbers.
“For my goals in this race, I will take some risk in the breakaways like I do in every race. I think a lot of people know me for that so I’ll try to get in moves. For the team, we have Gasparrotto and Guillaume Martin, who can be a good rider for the GC. I think in general we have a good group to do something on every stage.”
