Dmitriy Gruzdev made sure that the Italian TT title remains in the Astana team by claming his third win at the championships. The Astana rider beat Zhandos Bizhigitov (Vino 4ever) and Nikita Stalnov (Astana City) into second and third respectively.
In 2013, Astana lost their firm grip on the Kazakh TT Champion's jersey when Andrey Mizourov beat the stars from the WorldTour team. Since then, Daniil Fominykh and Alexey Lutsenko have made sure that the coveted tunic has returned to the dominant team for the country and today Dmitriy Gruzdev made it three in a row by taking his first title since he made the double in 2011 and 2012.
With Lutsenko focused on the Tour de France, it was left to Gruzdev to defend his team's honour on the 50km course in Almaty and he didn't disappoint. He beat Zhandos Bizhigitov into second while the hugely talented Nikita Stalnov finished third.
Attention now turns to the road race where Oleg Zemlyakov is the defending champion and where Astana also hopes to reclaim the title.
