Unipublic has followed ASO and decided not to register their main event, the Vuelta a Espana, on the WorldTour calendar in 2017. According to a statement, they will register their grand tour as an HC event.
The decision is not a major surprise because ASO owns a share of Unipublic. According to the Spanish organizers, the UCI reforms will turn the WorldTour into a closed system which is against their principles.
