After several years in the biggest races, Didi Senft who is known as The Devil, has decided to retire. A combination of a lack of sponsorship and poor health had forced the German to end his "career".
The devil has decided to hang up the pitchfork. 62-year-old Dieter "Didi" Senft , the legendary El Diablo , has decided to retire after more than twenty years on the roads of the biggest races in the world, most notably the Tour de France.
Over the last few years, Senft who has been a popular figure both among fans and riders, has seen his sponsorship decrease, especially due to the absence of German television at the Tour de France which means that he can no longer earn more than "500 euros per month" as he tells Bild. Furthermore, he underwent surgery for cerebral thrombosis two years ago.
