Having finished in the top 10 in 2014, Laurens Ten Dam is looking forward to the 2015 Tour de France. Being a pure climber, the Dutchman is pleased with the course that suits riders like him.
Laurens ten Dam plans to do some of his best rides of his career in next year's Tour de France. The Dutchman is looking forward to the first two stages in the Netherlands and the final mountain stage on the "Dutch mountain" Alpe d'Huez.
"Very little time trialling, a lot of summit finishes. I should be able to do well," he tells NOS, echoing the reaction from the top climbers.
A short individual time trial (14km) and a modest team time trial (28 kilometers) will do little damage compared to five mountaintop finishes.
"I can enjoy myself on this course," laughs Ten Dam. "It's a fantastic Tour for climbers."
Most of all, Ten Dam looks forward to the stages in the Netherlands. "It's super nice." When the race started in Rotterdam in 2010, he was not there.
"I thought that I was never going to see something like that again. This is a second chance."
