Daniel Teklehaimanot (Dimension) confirmed the good form he showed at the recent Criterium du Dauphiné by taking a second consecutive victory at the Eritrean time trial championships. He beat Meron Teshome (Stradalli) by 34 seconds and his teammate Merhawi Kudus by 56 seconds.
Last year Daniel Teklehaimanot went straight from a successul Criterium du Dauphiné where he had won the mountains jersey, back to Eritrea where he won his national TT title. This year he repeated the achievement in France and today he lined up as the favourite to also make it two in a row in his national time trial.
Teklehaimanot again showed that he is ready for the Tour de France and he was clearly the strongest on the 34km course in the capital of Asmara. Like last year, Meron Teshome was the best of the rest but unlike last year when he was just 13 seconds behind the winner, he lost 34 seconds to the strong Dimension Data rider. Merhawi Kudus was 22 seconds further adrift in third.
Teklehaimanot is on the Dimenion Data long-list for the Tour de France where he wore the mountains jersey in 2015.
