Danny Pate set Team Sky’s best time on stage four at the Eneco Tour as the time trial re-ordered the general classification. The action played out on a 14-kilometre course on the roads around Hoogerheide, with the American clocking the 26th fastest time, 40 seconds back on the day’s winner.
That man was Jos Van Emden, who powered around the course in a winning time of 16 minutes and 34 seconds to lead home a LottoNL-Jumbo 1-2 in Holland.
Team-mate Wilco Kelderman came in five seconds back, with Adriano Malori (Movistar) claiming third on the day, a further two seconds adrift to round out the podium.
The stage standings also mirrored the new GC as Van Emden picked up the leader’s jersey for good measure as the race enters a new phase of classics-style stages.
Andy Fenn was the next Team Sky rider home, 1:14 back on Van Emden, with the Scot, Lars Petter Nordhaug and Ian Stannard all setting a time within two seconds of each other.
