Team Colombia has been informed by one of their riders, Luis Alberto Largo Quintero, that he has received a notification from the UCI. The notification states that he has committed a “Potential Anti-Doping Rule Violation”. The notification is related to an adverse analytical finding after an out-of-competition test made in Villongo in Italy on January 22nd.
The Colombian rider gave the suspicious test right after arriving to the Italian town for the start of the new season. General Manager of Team Colombia Claudio Corti is now awaiting the complete results of the test, but Largo Quintero has been suspended. The General Manager will not take any other action until the circumstances of the potential positive test have been clarified.
Luis Alberto Largo Quintero is 23 years old and was given a contract with the team ahead of this season. He has mostly ridden races in South America and has been in the lead of the GC in the Tour of Colombia.
