Team Colombia will be returning to racing after a very successful Tor Mediterraneen. Jarlinson Pantano was, after showing off some great riding skills, able to reach the final podium to receive the King of the Mountains jersey. The team will participate in the 51st edition of the Italian one-day race Trofeo Laigueglia.
The Italian race has underwent some changes of the route. The new route consists of 2 circuits; the first includes two climbs: Passo Balestrino and Cima Paravenna, while the second circuit includes Colla Micheri, Testico and then for the second time Cima Paravenna.
Sport Director Valerio Tebaldi has chosen a roster, which mostly consists of riders from the Tour Mediteraneen roster. Jarlinson Pantano, Leonardo Duque, Robinson Chalapud, Juan Pablo Valencia and Carlos Julian Quintero will once again hit the roads. The last three riders will be Duber Quintero, Jeffry Romero and Miguel Angel Rubiano. Two years ago, the latter finished 2nd in the Trofeo Laigueglia.
Sports Director Valerio Tebaldi expects the team once again will show off their good form and says Pantano and Rubiano can perform well.
“The guys reported good feelings from France. On this route, Pantano and Rubiano can perform well in case of a selective race, while Duque would be our main plan in case of a small-group sprint. We know these roads pretty well, and we feel we got a good number of options to choose from,” Tebaldi says.
