Caleb Ewan (Orica GreenEDGE) won the Vuelta a La Rioja. Caja Rural-Seguros RGA took responsibility and tried to win both from a breakaway and in the sprint with Carlos Barbero. The performance leaves a good feeling ahead of the next races.

Carlos Barbero achieved his first top 4 in the ranks of the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA after a 9th place in the Volta a Catalunya.

"I felt good, but the result was not as expected," he said. "I have not improved the outcome of last year so I can not be satisfied. The team did a great job but I could not finish it off. We have taken the responsibility at all times, doing a great job and hopefully we will have better luck next time. Now I will rest and prepare for Amorebieta, last year we won and we will try to repeat that feat."

Angel Madrazo was in the break of the day and was on the podium twice as winner of the sprints and aggressiveness competitions. These podiums are the 15th for the team in 2015.

"I had a good feeling throughout the race," he said. "The truth is that it was the best of the year. From the beginning we worked well with Grijalba and me in the break. Unfortunately, the group was reduced to six riders on the first climb and I was with two from Orica and two from Movistar. Shortly before entering the final circuit, we were caught by the peloton and from there we worked to help Barbero in the sprint. He managed to take4th. Now I will recover and think of Klasika Amorebieta."
