During Stage 2 from Al Hazm Castle to Al Bustan of 195, Bardiani – CSF Pro Team climber Edoardo Zardini has been forced to abandon the of Oman due to stomach problems.
In the first part, the team had Enrico Barbin in the early breakaway but after 50km, he had a puncture and fell back to the peloton.
On the final climb of Al Jissah, with summit 5km from the finish, a small group of 19 riders emerged and went to sprint for the win. Fabian Cancellara (Trek) was the winner, outsprinting Valverde (Movistar) and Van Avermaet (BMC). Climber Manuel Bongiorno was best for Bardiani as he arrived in the chasing group 46 seconds behind.
