The Tour of Qatar opens the 2016 season for the new German Pro Continental team, Team Stölting Service Group. After the step up from Continental level, the German team from is ready to tackle its first challenge of 2016 on the road. The 15th edition of the Tour of Qatar is made up of five stages, including an individual time trial on stage three, and will cover a total distance of 626.4 kilometres.
"After all the training and preparation over the winter everyone is really looking forward to the first race of the season“, says sports director Gregor Willwohl. “For us the Tour of Qatar is the first time that we will compete at the World Class level of international cycling. So it presents up with the first opportunity to see where we stand. We have two fast guys in our line-up with Michael Carbel and Mads Pedersen, both of whom can have an impact in a sprint finish. We have to be very watchful because the weather often has a big influence on the racing in Qatar, so we have to be in ready to go into the breakaways to try and anticipate the crosswinds.“
