With a lot of sprint success already under their belt, Belkin have continued their dedicated focus on their fast riders by organizing a training camp for their fast finishers to analyze and improve their skills. The team plans to put it to good use in the Rund um Köln whose tough course means that Theo Bos will take a rare step back from the lead sprinter role while Moreno Hofland will get his chance to lead the team.
Michiel Elijzen and the sprinters of the Belkin Pro Cycling TEAM met this week for a training camp. In the Rund um Köln on Monday, they hope to profit from their hard work.
“It’s good to be together in a calm setting to evaluate how the past races and sprints went,” said Belkin Sports Director, Elijzen. “We’ll also do some specific training rides. We will train the lead-out and film it. Together with some other sprint videos, we’ll try to find things that we can improve. In Rund um Köln, we hope we will benefit from this camp.”
Elijzen said that he believes in the team’s chance for success in the German financial city. “Moreno is our leader but with Jetse Bol, Theo Bos and Barry Markus, we have some other fast men.
“Köln normally ends with a bunch kick or a sprint with a smaller group. We don’t really care which scenario decides the race, as we have several fast riders. We want to make our presence felt on Monday.”
Moreno Hofland leads the Belkin Pro Cycling TEAM in Köln. The Dutchman said that he thinks he should be able to bag a result.
“I have done my research. The course suits me. I feel fine, and I’m hoping for a top finish.
“After my good results this spring, I want more. I’ve raised the bar for myself as I now know that I’m capable of certain things. During the sprint camp, we trained hard so that we’ll be ready for Köln.”
Jetse Bol, Theo Bos, Graeme Brown, Rick Flens, Moreno Hofland, Nick van der Lijke, Barry Markus and Dennis van Winden.
