After Nacer Bouhanni has left the race, Geoffrey Soupe has taken over the role as Cofidis sprinter in the Tour de France. Today he tested himself in the intermediate sprint where he was fifth in the battle of the peloton.
"I needed to compete in the sprint to get back in the race after the stages in the Pyrenees. I will try to test myself and prepare the second part of the season," he said.
"It's not easy to eat when it's so hot as you are not hungry. I have not eaten too much. You also had to be careful with the hydration because you risked to suffer a sunstroke. The only thing that was good was the ice block.. They were placed on the neck and the cold made us regain some strength."
