After a very fast opening stage in the Norwegian race Tour des Fjords, Sondre Holst Enger was only a few centimeters away from winning the stage. The peloton was on fire and several people attacked during the stage.
It was the WorldTour teams who put speed into the final hill on the stage. Katusha , Saxo-Tinkoff and Cannondale set a hard race and attacked several times. A reduced peloton was close to the finish when Frederik Wilmann attacked, but the peloton reeled him and the other attackers in and it ended in a bunch sprint
The victory went to Wanty rider Baugnies, second place was taken by Dane Magnus Cort and Holst Enger rounded out the podium.
“I fought like an animal up the last hill, spent some time trying to get down to the finish line before other riders could catch me, but the peloton came very quickly. I got the wheel of Cort Nielsen and almost got past him,” he said.
