ORICA-GreenEDGE return to the Tour of Slovenia this week targeting stage results in the four day UCI Europe Tour race.

The 23rd edition of the race covers 590kilometres through the mountainous central European country. Famous for its castles and countryside the race is notoriously difficult due to the challenging terrain.

ORICA-GreenEDGE have a decent history of results in this mini stage race, including multiple stage wins in 2013 and 2014.

Sport director Matt Wilson said the team aims to continue their run of stage successes in the race.

“We won’t be going into the race looking for a result in the general classification,” said Wilson. “It’s a compact squad for this year put together with the sole objective of achieving good stage results."

“The team is nicely balanced with a mix of youth and experience. Mitch Docker,Jens Keukeleire, Christian Meier and Jack Haig all come into the team directly off of a run of good performances in the Criterium du Dauphine.

“We will definitely be looking to carry this form into the race. Jack has shown on the mountain stages that he is progressing very well at this level and this race will provide more valuable experience for him.”

Chinese strong man Cheung King Lok completes the line up for ORICA-GreenEDGE after performing well in his first outings in Europe.

“Cheung has adapted nicely so far,” continued Wilson. “It is not easy to move halfway around the world mid-season, but he has risen to the challenge and the more racing he gets the more he will develop.”

ORICA-GreenEDGE at the Tour of Slovenia (16-19 June):

Mitch Docker (AUS, VIC, 29)
Jack Haig (AUS, VIC, 22)
Jens Keukeleire (BEL, 26)
Cheung King Lok (CHI, 25)
Christian Meier (CAN, 31)
