Tom-Jelte Slagter (Cannondale-Garmin) tried to attack in the final stage of the Eneco Tour to move into the top 10 but failed to get clear and had to settle for 12th.
"Just finished #enecotour, unfortunately missed top 10 by 5sec. Tried everything today, great support by the @Ride_Argyle guys," he tweeted after the stage.
The result ended a successful race for the American team that got close to a stage win on day 5 when Dylan van Baarle finished a close second and missed out on the leader's jersey by just 1 second.
The team's youngster Alberto Bettiol showed good form throughout the race but abandoned on the final day.
"16 days 13 stages 4 flights 2 big experiences and huge legs pain! But my job is even my passion! Thanks @Ride_Argyle boys next step Hamburg," he tweeted after the stage.
